The United Kingdom and Ireland Contest Club

80m SSB Contest - 5th April 2023

Thank you for taking part in this 80m SSB contest. Our final 80m contest of this 2022/23 season is the CW event at the end of April. Congratulations to Chris GM2V, leading the pack with High Power, and the section leaders, Allan SM5CSS Low Power, and Gerwyn MW7FON, QRP leader. Also, well done to Bob G6C and Zoki S51Z, the other two QRP entrants who worked hard to be heard this evening. Conditions were generally poor, with some long skip, and activity seemed low too. Please remember the UK/EI DX CW Contest which takes place on 29/30th April, starting at 12:00utc. Tell the other hams in your club and enter our Teams Competition. 73 from your Adjudicator for the evening Tim G4FJK

Conditions were terrible with me tonight--almost enough to put me off SSB. I had a 59+ noise floor the entire contest so I offer my apologies to those I could just about hear but could not work. -- EI5G A bit of a struggle tonight, noisy band! -- EI7GY sd log is very usefull -- EI7INB Low activity levels Used SD fb as usual -- EI8CE Always a challenge doing this contest at the same time as the second hour of the RSGB 144MHz FT8AC :-) -- EI8KN Best QRB is 611km for GM4JYB at IO88JM -- EI9IRB IO92KN -- G2NV Rather light on stations here but also low on QRM. -- G3Q Slow going tonight with some longer contacts in last 10 mins.Tks all. -- G3R Lots of room -- G3RWF I must setup a DVK for G5GEI before the next time I operate the Bonus station !! Ran on 3713 until 20:30, then on 3621 to the end. -- G5GEI @ G4FJK Hard going tonight getting heard through the noise. Thanks to EI5G it took a lot of calling to get you. SD used for logging -- G6C TNX FOR CONTACTS S51Z HEARD BUT DID NOT RESPOND -- G6UBM Best QRB is 1724km for S51Z at JN76PA -- GM0V Low noise but long skip and not too much activity. Lots of EIs wkd. Thanks for the QSOs - 73 Chris -- GM2V IC-7300, 100w to inv-vee dipole. Hard work tonight. Strange conditions. Thanks all for the fun. -- GM4JYB Glad to be back having missed the last few contests. Band a bit noisy tonight. -- GM4VYQ Not too noisy!! -- GW7BZR s9++ Static noise, plus a trip to the shop took longer than expected, so only last few minutes -- M0MPM at the club station again so different locator - confused folks last time in the CW event with that. Must listen to what's sent !!! -- M4J Very high noise level at QTH tonight so not great but still made contacts. Thanks to all stations worked 73 and see you on the next one. I use EI5DI's SD for my contest logging -- M5G Seemed quiet tonight - see you all next time! -- MM1E Big difference between the CW and the SSB UKEI events. On CW almost everybody you hear on the band is taking part in the contest, whereas in the SSB events most stations that you hear (from OE5 at least) are not in the contest! -- OE5TXF I had big problems with my voice, as usual! Tnx for all QSOs de Allan -- SM5CSS
