RESULTS - 5th October 2016 - SSB

We hope you enjoyed the second SSB contest in the 2016/17 series.  Here near Inverness the lower part of the band was quieter than in September, but was crowded - with AN400x stns, nets and what might be ADSL noise which rises noticeably above 3750kHz - all adding up to make copying stations difficult at times. Interesting to read that other stations found conditions poor and the band noisy. We received a couple of faulty logfiles - one had the wrong callsign in each Cabrillo line - this happens where the station uses their short contest callsign, but they don't change the software from their normal home callsign. Another log had the 'sent locator' and the '59' columns reversed - both these logs were rejected by the log submission robot. If the robot rejects your log, please open the Cabrillo file with a text editor and see if you can spot the error. On this occasion, we have included both these logs in the adjudication. Congratulations to Allan GM4Z (GM4ZUK) on winning Overall and the High Power section.  Also to Allan SM5CSS in second place overall and winner of the Low Power section. Congratulations to Ian GI0AZB on second place in the Low Power section, and to Steve M9A (G3ZVW) on winning the QRP section, with Bill GM4UBJ in second place. This contest was adjudicated jointly with Simon M0VKY and Paul EI5DI. The next contest is on CW on 26th October.     73     Chris GM3WOJ - Adjudicator
