RESULTS - 6th April 2016 - SSB

Thanks for taking part in the last SSB contest of the 2015/16 series. The band was very noisy with a number of nets in progress. There was also a noticeable absence of any QSOs over 2500km. The VK0EK DXpedition was spotted in Japan on 3775kHz which resulted in some of the Eu 'band police' arriving there to defend that frequency against imagined intruders! It is worth remembering that the scores posted here immediately after the log submission deadline are *provisional* scores, to be followed a.s.a.p. by the finalised scores/results. We had some unexpected problems with the adjudication this time, for which we apologise. One logfile contained errors which prevented accurate adjudication of all the logfiles - we've accepted the entry this time, but will classify all logs with errors as Checklogs in future. It is entirely the responsibility of the entrant to ensure that their entry is correct, in terms of the structure and content of the Cabrillo logfile. The log submission robot is very good at screening logs and alerting an entrant when their logfile is wrong - we will be updating it to avoid this sort of unusual log error getting through in future. As an example of the unexpected log errors we sometimes encounter, one entrant in this contest sent the wrong locator to the first 3 stations that they worked, then changed to sending the correct locator for the rest of the contest ! Congratulations to Ark EI0PL (EI9KC) on winning Overall and the High Power section, to Stewart G3RXQ on winning the Low Power section and to Steve G3ZVW on winning the QRP section. The final contest of this series is on 27th April 2016 on CW 73 Chris GM3WOJ - Adjudicator

arrived on frequency 30minutes before start to have a few qso`s ,, 20mins in a german stations asking me to qsy as dx was near , but on listening they had qsy`d up to work ja ,, i got continuosly jammed , sorry to those that tried -- 2E0KVJ Great fun from Club station QTH -- EI0PL Good bit of fun, great idea, first entry but will do again. Well done to all -- EI5KG Great Craic -- EI8IQ QRP 4W into G5RV -- F4VQT Weird propagation - dead zone between DL & S5! Much noisier than usual at this QTH. Sorry to those QRP who I couldn't pick out. -- G0DVJ fantastic -- G0MCV I forgot the contest was on, missed the start managed to give a few points away. -- G0VQR Very busy SD a great help -- G2BKZ 2030 time for bed -- G3MZV Thanks to everyone for the QSOs. Particularly nice to work some unfamiliar callsigns tonight. -- G3ZVW lost my voice so had to use rig files to give call and report untill i corrupted the button when S&P. Must apologise to fellow operators for the abrupt call and report. Manged to run for 15mins at the end just! Used SD as usual without any problems. -- G4DDX Challenging but enjoyable. SD very good. -- G7HYS Great fun tonight, my logger software played up for the first three contacts, a quick reboot cleared it, sorry to the French station, too much QRM to let me be comfortable for the locator :( -- GI0AZB somewhat different style here this evening....decided to do more S&P in the hope of finding more distant stations but didn't quite work out that way. Mainland Europe - that is stations outside UK and EI appeared few and far between. For some reason had more dupes than usual, why that is I have no idea. And how did I miss Chris GM3WOJ, we spoke just before the start and heard you about but never made a Q! See everyone back in September on SSB, for the next 80m series. -- GW4BLE band very noisy -- M0DCG great -- M6LFL Very hard time. Cdx seem not to be good. My locator JO33 sometimes hard to get. Many get it as JO32. Had the idea there were not too many stations on the band this time? Signals were not too strong as well. It's a miracle I did make any contacts with QRP I think. Used a Yaesu FT817, 5W, Turner +3B mike and 84m horizontal loop on 7m agl. -- PE4BAS Lots of QRN. Thanks for the contest! -- S5/PA3BHF
