Thanks for entering the second last CW contest in the 2018-19 series of UKEICC 80m contests.  Here near Inverness I found conditions a bit strange - a very slow start then a busy last 10-15 minutes. There was some auroral activity - the numbers this evening are SFI = 69, A = 10, K= 2.
Good to see some new stations entering, including Andrew 2E0RET and John G3UCQ - the UKEICC team hope you enjoyed the event.
Congratulations to Piotr SP7OGP on winning overall, with Allan SM5CSS in second place. Wolfgang DL8DWW is the winner of the LP Assisted section. Congratulations also to Eric SD1A as the leading HP Unassisted station, and to Mike G3P and Axel DL6KVA as the highest-placed HP Assisted stations in UK/EI and DX respectively.

Andy G4PIQ - thanks for letting us know that WinTest users can use the 'Top of Europe Contest' template with no problems - we've updated the Rules info. (Select TOEC WW Grid Contest from the pull-down menu)
The Results below were cross-checked by fellow Adjudicators Stew GW0ETF and Tim G4FJK.  UBN files will be e-mailed to entrants today.

73   Chris   GM3WOJ / GM2V - Adjudicator                The next 80m contest is the last SSB one in this series - on 3rd April at 2000z

We hope you enjoyed the contest this evening. Activity was again good although conditions here in IO73 weren't as good as for the CW contest last week and most EU signals were weak and sometimes difficult copy. Good to work a good number of new and unfamiliar calls along with all the faithful regulars; the contest is definitely growing in popularity.
Congratulations to Allan GM4ZUK (GM4Z) for winning the High Power section and to his namesake Allan SM5CSS for heading the Low Power section. There must be something about the name as another Alan M7R came out on top with QRP though fittingly for the reduced power he has just the one L in his spelling. Special mention too for Andy G4PIQ for breaking the 100 Raw QSO barrier, from memory only the second time this has been achieved since Steve Cole GW4BLE (SK) in the early days of UKEICC. (Tim M0BEW also came close...;-)
One leading participant worked a small number of stations who didn't give out a locator and entered a 0 (zero) in the exchange field. The rules state to enter one or more blanks or dashes in this case - a number of any sort results in a bust penalty. These QSOs will score zero so some may be tempted to delete them. This isn't recommended and all QSOs should be included - all QSOs can help with adjudication and perhaps for instance you might receive a QSL request for one of these several weeks or months later. (An alternative would be to manually mark these QSOs with X-QSO in the Cabrillo file)
Please don't forget that the UKEICC DX CW Contest is the next contest in the calendar and takes place over 24 hours on March 23/24th. **SEE YOU THEN!**

Thanks for the Q's tonight - 73 Phil -- G4NVR

Hum - that didn't go to plan. The run radio stopped responding to the PTT line so the DVK didn't work after about 20 mins so I couldn't really use SO2R. Trying to fix that - for almost the first time ever - caused Win-Test to crash - and so badly that Task Manager wouldn't kill it, so I had to do a full computer re-boot. This lost me both Rx and Tx audio, so re-plugged headphones, found a fist mic and logged on paper for a few mins. Even after the reboot the PTT was still lost, so turned on amp on 2nd radio and swapped active radios after that was warmed up.... 2 x K3. Inv-V Dipole @ 18m. K9AY -- G4PIQ

Only found out about this contest when turning the radio on at 20:30. Took a while to find the rules and download the UKEI80_VHF.udc file. So here goes my first attempt at this contest. Hoping I got it all correct -- G4SDM

great contest -- G5UM

N1MM+ performed well as usual -- G8X

Very crowded and noisy band this evening, but good activity. Tnx for the QSOs - 73 Chris -- GM2V

Pretty decent tonight, lots of continental qso ongoing -- GM4M

Most EU signals weak tonight -- GW4J

For one qso I asked a few times for square but got a wab instead. Log what you rx right? Rescore it suit. tu. -- M0BEW

Heavy QRM -- M0DCG

Windy but no rain at least. -- M1CJE

Nice contest. Poor conditions unfortunately. -- PC4Y

I like this contest format. Short and fast. Had some trouble first 25 minutes to find a good running frequency lots of splatter and QRM. But in the end everything went well again. No big distances worked unfortunately. Best distance was 1184km with F8ABB. A follow up story can be read on my blog. https://pe4bas.blogspot.com -- PE4BAS

You were very patient 2E0WHQ we made it 4 seconds before the end of the contest! The noise level was high here this evening. Thanks for all contacts de Allan! -- SM5CSS

Results - 27th February 2019 - CW

Thanks for entering the second UKEICC 80m CW contest of 2019.

Conditions were good (for a change) and activity was even better, with a record number of entrants (95) - more than double the number when these events started four years ago.  It's clear that the simple exchange format is popular, and attracts more and more entries from the continent.  There were 5 QSOs logged with North America, represented by K1GQ and VE9OA.

Congratulations once again to Allan SM5CSS, the overall winner, and leading LP (and unassisted) entrant.  In this contest, it helps to be far away, but not too far away, from the UK (the centre of activity).  Can anyone stop Allan making it a hat-trick by winning again in March?

In the remaining unassisted sections, top places went to GM2V (HP) and YL3FW (QRP)

For assisted, the winners were GM4Z (HP), S57KM (LP) and G6M (QRP).

With the record number of entrants this time, we hope to break the 100 mark in the March CW contest - please join us again for the next 80m CW contest on 27 March.  In the meantime, don't forget the 80m SSB event on 6 March.  Please have fun, send in your log and encourage others to do the same - we have a significant number of regulars who don't submit their logs.

Finally, the annual UK/EI DX Contest (CW) takes place on 23/24 March - rules here. We look forward to seeing you all then.

73    Paul EI5DI - Adjudicator

Results - 6th February 2019 - SSB

Thanks for entering the second UKEICC 80m SSB contest of 2019.
Once again, the UKEICC team appreciates your support for these events under the difficult conditions which often prevail on 80m at this time of year.

As your scheduled Adjudicator (Chris GM3WOJ/GM2V) has done better than he expected, Chris has asked me to take over as Adjudicator for this event to ensure fairness.

The next contest in this series is the 80m CW contest on Wednesday 27th February 2019.

Note - we have not been able to send out the "Results.txt" file with your UBN file, so please see the Results tables below.

The URL below links to a website run by Jim G3YLA, an excellent resource for estimating possible 80m conditions for evening contests :  http://www.propquest.co.uk/graphs.php
(Click on 'foF2' at the top, then select 'Today' on the left, then hover your mouse over the time of day on the x-axis.)

Short range MUF too low ? Good strong PA/F/GM but limited in between. All SnP. Always fun to take part and work some friends -- M1DDD
Deliberate anti-contest QRM tonight - worst for a long time ... Data on top, Random CW, Tuning signals, and then someone asked "what contest is it" and after telling him the response was "go to hell".  Courtesy on the bands is getting out of hand.  I just carried on making contacts - the best way to deal with it. Conditions were noisy and difficult esp Inter-G. -- M4J
Conditions poor for inter UK. Only really hearing UK stations at the far south. Good activity from non UK stations keeps this contest of interest. -- MM2N
Always nice to participate in this 1 hour contest. A small exercise for the PACC contest this weekend. Hope to hear some of you on 80m saturday evening to return the favour ;-). 73, Bas -- PE4BAS

RESULTS - 30th January 2019 - CW

Although I could not take part this evening, I have been told that activity was good and conditions were fair.
It is good to see some new stations sending in their logs.

One station who did not enter a log appears to have sent at least three different locators during the contest.
To ensure that no-one was penalised unneccessarily, points for QSOs with that station have been set to zero.

Thank you all for entering and making this contest so enjoyable.
Wednesday, 6th February 2019, is the next SSB contest, at 20:00utc .

After running CWT 1900-2000Z missed the UKEI80 except for the last 2 minutes... Thought it was on Thursday hi! Ironically the paddle started shorting during the first and only last-minute QSO with G3KAF... Cheers?/73 Zaba OH1ZAA -- OH3BCX
rig ft5000 ant dipole -- OK6DJ
Variable condx : I had periods with many qso and also periods with no qso.  But I could work 46 stations and I enjoyed the contest like always. Till next month. 73 Leon  -- ON5WL
Thanks for the QSOs! This contest is always great! 73 de Eric. -- SD1A

Results - 2nd January 2019 - SSB

Thanks for taking part in the first UKEICC 80m contest of 2019. Conditions from IO73 were unusually challenging with most UK signals very weak and much CQing going unanswered.

Congratulations to Gediminas LY9A for heading the table with Steve GW9J in second place leading the HIgh Power section. Jim G3KAF is to be congratulated for braving QRP all on his own!

73, Stewart GW0ETF / GW4J - Adjudicator
